Diaper Covers

When parents use cloth diaper for their baby, they need diaper covers. Diaper cover provides waterproof layer and keep baby’s clothing dry while using cloth diapers - fitted diapers, prefold diapers, and/or contour diapers. Diaper covers not only protect baby’s clothing, but also bedding, car seats, laps or anything else that might come into contact with a soiled or wet cloth diaper.

Diaper covers are available in cotton as well as woolen stuff. They are generally made from wool, nylon taffeta (that has a special waterproof coating applied), special water resistant fleece, and fabrics coated with PUL (polyurethane laminate). The type of diaper covers to be opted totally depends on diaper chosen for the baby. Diaper covers are accessible in wide range of styles and fabric choices to suit individual style, baby’s body shape and wetting patters.

Diaper covers come in two basic styles: wraps or pull on. Wrap covers are usually front-closing. However, they can also be side closing. Wraps are generally made with either snap or hook and loop closures. They have elastic at the legs, the back waist, and sometimes the front waist. Pull on covers have no closures, and instead simply pull on. There is elastic at the legs, and all around the waist (much like a pair of underwear). Covers come in a wide variety of materials including synthetics like coated nylon and PUL and natural fibers like wool.

A wool diaper cover protects clothing (and parents) from moisture on a cloth-diapered baby. Wool's lanolin naturally repels wetness and resists water. It also forms an antibacterial detergent when mixed with urine, which means you don't have to wash the diaper covers after every use. Wool is a simple, breathable, and all-natural option for cloth diapering.
